EIH Limited was incorporated by as a public limited company in May, 1949

Equity shares listed

• Equity shares of the Company were first listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange
• Took the Maharaja’s palace in Srinagar, Kashmir on lease and converted it into the Oberoi Palace Hotel

Commenced operations at The Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi

Growing through mergers and acquisitions

By a scheme of merger approved by the Calcutta High Court, Associated Hotels of India Limited and Hotels (1938) Private Limited merged into EIH Limited. By virtue of the merger, the Company acquired The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata; Maidens Hotel, New Delhi; and The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla

Commenced operations at The Oberoi Towers, Mumbai

Established a printing press in New Delhi, primarily for the company’s in-house needs

Partnered with IAAI

Entered into a 10-year contract with the International Airports Authority of India (IAAI) to operate all snack bars and restaurants at the domestic and international terminals in Mumbai

Listing of GDRs on the London stock exchange

Promoting Wildflower Hall, An Oberoi Resort

Joint venture with the Government of Himachal Pradesh to promote Mashobra Resort Ltd. Shimla (Wildflower Hall, An Oberoi Resort). EIH’s holding is 78.79%

Change of company name from East India Hotels Limited to EIH Limited

On a path of continuous growth

• Commenced operations at The Oberoi Rajvilas in Jaipur, our first luxury leisure resort in India

• Joint venture with Goyals and Bhasins to promote Mumtaz Hotels Ltd. (The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra) in which EIH holds 60% and Goyals and Bhasins hold 40% between them

Trident, Gurgaon (managed property) opened

2006

Diversified into other businesses

• Acquired 66.67% equity stake in Mercury Car Rentals Limited, a joint venture with AVIS Europe
• The printing press established by the Company in 1974 was granted permission by the Indian Banks’ Association to print security stationery for banks

2008

Staying resilient

• Established EIH Flight Services Limited, Mauritius as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company
• Terrorist attack at Trident, Nariman Point and The Oberoi, Mumbai in November, 2008 resulted in the temporary closure of both hotels
• Trident, Nariman Point reopened on December 21, 2008

2009

Expanding into more geographies

• Trident, Bandra Kurla, Mumbai commenced operations
• Entered into a joint venture agreement with 16% equity interest in Golden Jubilee Hotels Limited for a proposed Trident hotel in Hyderabad

Reopening of The Oberoi, Mumbai

The Oberoi, Mumbai reopens after a full renovation and increased security measures EIH International Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, completed an acquisition of 46% equity interest in its international hotels joint venture company EIH Holdings Limited. Pursuant to this acquisition, EIH Holdings Limited is now a wholly owned subsidiary of EIH International Limited

The Oberoi, Gurgaon (managed property) opened

Entering the flight catering business

Renovations and new constructions of industrial kitchens for flight catering operations in New Delhi, with a capacity to cater up to 18,000 meals per day

2013

Trident, Hyderabad began operations

2015

Flight catering in Kolkata

New flight catering facility started in Kolkata, with the state-of-the-art equipment to maintain international hygiene standards and cater up to 3,500 meals per day

2016

The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort, New Chandigarh (a managed property) opened

2017

Global depository receipts were delisted from the London stock exchange

2018

• The Oberoi, New Delhi, an iconic Delhi property, reopened in January, ahead of schedule, following major renovations directed by designer Adam. D. Tihany
• EIH sold its entire equity holding of 25.10% in Mercury Travels Ltd. to Ebix, USA. Mercury Travels Ltd. ceased to be an associate of EIH
• EIH invested 25.10% shares in U Smart Education Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercury Travels Ltd., as part of sale of shares in Mercury Travels Ltd.

EIH rights issues over-subscribed, receives INR 561 crore offer
